So my old curling iron was retired after a solid 4 years of use (pretty good considering it came from CVS). I figured the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale would be a good time to invest in a nicer curling iron so I pulled the trigger and bought The Sultra "The Bombshell" 1.5 in Curling Iron:
Now this curling iron comes with a storage wrap and glove. After playing around with it I have to say I'm not a fan of the glove. I have tiny hands and the glove makes it hard to grab and hold onto the sections of my hair while curling. Also if you put the hot curling iron on the glove it will melt the rubber band in the wrist section (which happened to me). So after that I kinda gave up on the glove and only burnt myself once so I'd say that's a success.
Let's talk pro-cons of the curling iron itself. One con for me is it doesn't come with a clip attachment so if you are used to working with this it may take some time to get used to. It also means you have to hold your hair in with your hand and this is how I burnt my index finger. But after that I was much more careful.
Second con it doesn't come with a cold tip on the top (like my older one did). This means if you touch the tip of the iron to your hear, ear, hand ect. it will hurt.
Possible Con you can't adjust the heat. It's one setting. Not really a huge deal for me because I have very thick hair, but if yours in very thin it could be an issue.
Pro/Con the curling iron gets EXTREMELY HOT. I like this because my hair is thick and it curls my hair really well at that heat level. Con if you accidentally touch it, ouch. Also if you have thinner hair it might burn it (as stated earlier).
Pro it heats up very quickly. Great if you are in a rush (my flat iron takes forever to heat up).
Pro the curls hold really well. I've been using it without any styling products (besides heat protection and dry shampoo) and they last a few days. Also note I have naturally curly hair that tends to hold shape easily.
Pro I really like the shape the 1.5 in barrel curls come out as.
My overall experience - I really like this product, and after playing around to learn the nuances of how to use it without causing injury I am very pleased. The curls are nice, they hold well, and again once you get used to it its very user friendly. I recommend if you are used to having a clip or cold tip play around with it off so you see how you have to hold it to avoid burning yourself. I would definitely recommend this product.
Here are some pictures of my hair curled (sorry for the awful selfie quality of the first two). In all photos the only product I used was heat protectant (my favorite is the Bumble and Bumble).
Love this color combo, very pretty.
