4th of July Inspiration #3

Here is my final 4th of July outfit!  The big holiday is only 4 days away (man this year is FLYING by).  This look is a little more sophisticated than my previous two looks, but I think it's my favorite.

Dress - J.Crew (Factory version here ON SALE and a few sizes still availible) // Shoes - Tory Burch (ON SALE!) // Neckalce - Baublebar // Bracelet - J.Crew Factory and Baublebar // Sunglasses - Ray-Ban

Even though this outfit is a little fancier I love the idea of wearing seersucker on the 4th.

I've linked some similar dresses below!  I hope you all enjoyed my 4th of July outfit inspiration.  Now I'm ready for some fireworks and hot dogs!

4th of July Outfit Inspiration #2

Here is my second 4th of July outfit!  I purchased this dress from Francesca's last fall, and unfortunately it is no longer available, but I've linked similar options in the widget below.   I love this look for the 4th of July mostly because the dress is so comfortable and easy to wear during the day and into the night for fireworks.  It's perfect for a picnic, BBQ, or casual dinner.

Dress - Francesca's (old, similar below) // Shoes - Jack Rogers // Sunglasses - Ray-Ban // Necklace - Baublebar // Bracelet - J.Crew Factory

On another note, is anyone surprised by my choice of shoes?  Lol I've been wearing these babies constantly this summer.  Quite possibly the best shoe purchase I've made in a while!

Here are some fun casual dresses perfect for the 4th of July.  I'm loving the Forever 21 dress!

Trend For Less: Retro Sunglasses

I don't know about anyone else but lately I've been loving all the retro Sunglasses out this season.  From John Lennon style circle sunnies to flash lenses to the super cool looking Prada versions (like here and here) I have become obsessed.  However I already have two pairs of Ray-Bans, and I would hate to spend a lot of money on something I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of (especially if the trend only lasts a summer).  So I was super pumped to find that there are some much cheaper options at Nasty Gal and Nordstroms in some of my favorite styles. I picked these Nasty Gal sunnies and am super excited to wear them this summer!

All the shades below are under $50!  Happy Shopping :)

National Wear Your Lilly Day

Is it just me or is there literally a holiday for everything?

Well this sunday is Father's day (Happy father's day Dad!) and National Wear Your Lilly Day.  So I've put together a post of two dresses, my first Lilly Pulitzer dress and my favorite Lilly Pulitzer dress.

 Lilly Dress in Clam Jam

So when I purchased this dress it was from the Lilly Pulitzer New Years Cheer sale.  One of my sorority sisters posted in our facebook group about the sale and I had never had a Lilly dress mostly because of their price, so I saw this dress and it was such a cute print.  Unfortunately because there are no Lilly stores near me I ordered a size too large, and even after washing it quite a few times it is still a little baggy in the chest area.  Even so I still love it and wear it (#youneverforgetyourfirst).

But this dress below is my all time favorite!

Marlisa Maxi Dress in Nice Tail.

Unfortunately both of these dresses and patterns are no longer available but below are similar styles to the two above.  Plus Lilly Pulitzer is doing a gift with purchase for National Wear Your Lilly Day.  I will be using the occasion to get my planner.

And I hope you all have a happy sunday, and if you are spending it with your father have a happy father's day!

Tory Burch on Sale!

Hello and happy Thursday!  Here are a couple of Tory Burch sale finds that I've seen that I love.  I've been really into her patterned totes recently.  Too bad I have ay too many totes to justify buying a new one, but I am eying some of the shoes (those Gladiator Espadrilles are such a cute find!).  Happy Shopping!

4th of July Fun!

I think my favorite thing about holidays is being able to dress up for them.  4th of July is probably my favorite holiday for this specific purpose.  Who doesn't love putting together some fun Red, White and Blue options?  I know I do!I'll be putting together 3 potential 4th of July looks over the next few weeks!  Today's look is a more casual option, perfect for spending time outdoors, at a casual dinner, day at the park and super comfortable for laying out and watching fireworks.

Jacket - Gap // Shirt - Lilly Pulitzer (old) // Shorts - J.Crew // Shoes - J.Crew Factory (sold out, similar here) // Ring - Baublebar (sold out)  // Neckalce - Tiffany & Co. //

This tank screams summer to me (it's also one of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer patterns - Watch Out).  The fun nautical print, plus it's in Red,White, and Blue.  Perfect for the 4th!  I always bring a jacket with me to watch fireworks, as where I live the temperature tends to drop once the sun goes down.

So I've linked below some fun, casual picks for 4th of July!

Chambray

Dress - J.Crew Factory (ON SALE!) // Shoes - Jack Rogers // Necklaces - Baublebar and Kendra Scott // Bracelet - Baublebar// Sunglasses - Ray Ban // Purse - Louis Vuitton (cheaper option

This Chambray Dress is quickly becoming one of my favorites in my closet.  Not only does it have pockets (instantly makes any outfit better amirite?) plus it is so comfortable!  I sized down for this dress for anyone who is interested.  It's perfect for summer, plus ITS ON SALE!  I've also linked some other great Chambray dresses in the widget below.   I paired it with my favorite sandals this summer, my Jack Roger Laurens.  I don't know about anyone else but these shoes for me did not need to be broken in at all!  They immediately were comfortable, no blisters like what is typical when breaking in traditional Jacks.  I 100% recommend Laurens to anyone looking for the perfect summer sandal.

10 Fun Facts About Me!

Hi Y'all,

I can't believe that it has almost been a year since I started this blog on a whim one day (less than a month until my blogs anniversary)!  I've decided that since my blog has grown a bit since I started it that it might be a nice idea to do a more personal post today telling all of you a little bit about who I am!  I hope y'all like this, and if you guys want more content like this let me know in the comments below.

My first ever blogpost had ten fun facts about myself, and while a few of these have changed (I'm no longer a college student, no longer living in D.C., and my Tumblr url has changed)

So here are another ten fun facts about me!

1. I LOVE to cook!  I'm always looking for new recipes and recently I have become obsessed with making my own almond milk.

2. I love watching baseball and football (go Giants and '49ers)

3. I'm currently in the San Francisco Bay Area, trying to figure out what I'm interested in doing now that I have graduated college.

4. I'm not an early riser, but I force myself to wake up at 6:45 every morning so I can get my day started early. First thing I do after waking up?  Make a GIANT cup of iced coffee and turn on Good Morning America.

5. Speaking of coffee I am addicted, but only ever drink Iced Coffee.  I'll drink hot tea, but I rarely drink hot coffee (even in Boston winters). I was originally just going to post the first picture, but after looking trough my camera roll I realized just how many iced coffee pics I have.  Here are three highlights from winters past.

6. Foods you will always find in my kitchen?  Avocado and chocolate (I'm currently in love with Chuao's Maple Bacon Chocolate bar!)

7. I love HGTV.  Every show on HGTV.  I watch them all and constantly give unsolicited advice to my parents about fun home improvement projects.

8. My spirit animal?  Every Buzzfeed quiz I've taken says sloth or elephant, but I personally believe it's either Olivia Pope or Kimmy Schmidt (depending on my mood)

9. I love binge watching Youtube videos.  My favorites are clothing hauls, "What's in my bag" videos, and make-up product reviews.

10.  I'm incredibly friendly and love meeting new people!  I'd love to get to know more about all my followers and readers!  If you ever want to reach out you can email me at claireelise5@gmail.com or send me a message on Tumblr at prepinthesun.tumblr.com

Now share a fun fact about yourself!  I'd love to learn more about my readers!

Scallops on Scallops

So I may have a minor obsession with scallops this season....

Dress - J.Crew Factory // Shoes - Tory Burch (ON SALE!) // Necklaces - Baublebar and Baublebar // Watch - Fossil // Handbag - Kate Spade (ON SALE)

....or maybe it's a major obsession.

But this dress and tote are perfect!

As I was writing this post the whole time I kept thinking about how much I love scallops on clothing, but really dislike scallops the seafood...

Back to this outfit, it is  perfect for a nice summer brunch or dinner.  With more conservative shoes it would be great for work as well.   The dress is so comfortable too!

The shoes are comfortable, but when I was trying them on in store it was the first time after knee surgery wearing any sort of wedge/heel and these babies are 5".  Let's just say I had a mini bambi moment in the Tory Burch store...

Are you loving scalloped looks this season?
